"I believe that even our errors and mistakes are turned to good account. It is no harder for God to cope with them than with what we imagine to be our good deeds." - DB
"...and all our righteousness (our best deeds of rightness and justice) is like filthy rags or a polluted garment;" - Is 64:6 AMP
Believers often struggle with feelings of unworthiness before God, questioning how a perfect and holy God could accept them in their sinfulness. This anxiety can lead to doubt about God's promises that His acceptance and redemption are complete in Christ. Conversely, believers sometimes fall into the opposite trap—feeling they have earned God's favor through good works or obedience. Yet Scripture reminds us that even our righteousness is "like filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6). Here lies a profound irony: we feel confident offering God our good deeds but hesitant to bring Him our sins, when ultimately both are equally insufficient before His holiness. This truth should embolden us to "fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace" (Hebrews 4:16), recognizing that nothing we do or have done has ever altered the complete acceptance that Christ's sacrifice has secured for us.
